Celtics Director of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge has confirmed that the team has signed Head Coach Doc Rivers to a contract extension, according to Boston Herald.

The length and terms of the extension have not been revealed.

"We are pleased to extend Doc?s contract," Ainge said in a prepared release. "Doc molded a championship team last season through his leadership, and we are confident that he is the man to lead this franchise on the court now and in the future."

Some reports speculate that Rivers will earn a base pay of $5.5 million per year through the 2010-2011 season with playoff incentives that could push the salary as high as $7 million.
