The NBA brought us three games on Tuesday night, which also happened to be Election Night in the United States.

Phoenix battled New Jersey with Shaquille O?Neal looking to remain in office as the league?s foremost center, and Boston played Houston with the 'new' Big Three looking to upend the 'incumbent' Big Three. The last game of the night, Dallas/San Antonio, featured a few candidates that could fly under the radar in the West this season.

The Phoenix Suns (3-1) easily handled the New Jersey Nets (1-2) on Tuesday night thanks to 22 points from Raja Bell. Steve Nash added 12 points and 11 assists and Shaquille O?Neal tallied 18 points and 6 rebounds in the victory. The Suns shot 63% from the field, while holding the Nets to just 33% shooting on the night. Vince Carter starred with 19 points and 5 assists, while Yi Jianlian contributed 15 points and 8 rebounds in the loss. Robin (2 points and 1 rebound) and Brook (2 points and 6 rebounds) Lopez did battle in the NBA for the first time.

The Boston Celtics (3-1) held off a late charge by the Houston Rockets (3-1) thanks to a strong performance from Ray Allen. Kevin Garnett had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Allen tallied 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The Celtics shot 51% and outrebounded the Rockets by twelve in the win. Houston remained in contention thanks to their seven fewer turnovers and four more made three-pointers. Tracy McGrady posted 26 points and 6 assists, while Luis Scola added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.

The Dallas Mavericks (2-2) used a very strong first half advantage to knock off the winless San Antonio Spurs (0-3) at the AT&T Center. Dirk Nowitzki had 30 points and 7 rebounds and Jason Terry added 29 points and 6 boards of his own in the win. The Mavericks hit 53% of their shots and outrebounded the Spurs by thirteen. Tony Parker scored 22 points, while Tim Duncan tallied 19 points and 14 rebounds in the loss. Jason Kidd just missed out on a triple-double, posting 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in thirty-four minutes on Tuesday night.
