Derrick Rose had one of the greatest playoff debuts of any player in NBA history on Saturday as the Bulls (1-0) outlast the Celtics (0-1) at TD Banknorth Garden. Rose starred with 36 points and 11 assists, Joakim Noah posted 11 points and 17 rebounds, and Ben Gordon added 20 points and 5 dimes in the victory. Chicago won the rebounding battle by eight, and held Boston to 39% shooting. Rajon Rondo led with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists, Kendrick Perkins tallied 14 points and 8 boards, and Paul Pierce contributed 23 points and 7 rebounds on 8-for-21 shooting from the field. Pierce forced overtime by hitting one-of-two foul shots with less than three seconds left in regulation, and Ray Allen missed a contested jumper from the right baseline at the end of overtime that would have sent the game into a second bonus period.

Dallas shot 53% from the field, while outrebounding San Antonio by five. Tim Duncan had 27 points and 9 rebounds, Michael Finley scored 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting, and Tony Parker put up 24 points and 8 assists in defeat. The Spurs shot an amazing 11-for-14 from three-point land, but squandered a golden opportunity at home with a poor final period.
