Magic center Marcin Gortat ripped coach Stan Van Gundy in an interview with a Polish reporter a few months ago, and is now denying his comments.
"The nature of our coach, he panics very often during games," Gortat said at the time. "He's got some behavior which is not good for us. With his gestures, he makes us nervous on the floor."
Gortat denied remembering the interview, and skirted around the issue when asked by the Orlando Sentinel.
"I don't know anything about this. Thanks to Coach Van Gundy, I made my dream come true. He made my name and I'm happy I can play for him," Gortat said. "I don't have any reason to do anything stupid."
Van Gundy talked to Gortat about the quotes, and doesn't hold any hard feelings.
"I'm not going to spend much time worrying about it," Van Gundy said. "I talked to Marcin about it. I didn't like what he said, but I try to judge everybody by the total package, of what I know of them.
"I've been with him for two years. He's a guy with a great attitude. He's a great guy to coach and a good team guy. ... I say inappropriate things sometimes, too. When you're somebody who's talking every day, you screw up sometimes. I don't have any problem with Marcin."
