Magic general manager Otis Smith said on Thursday that there is no reason to believe that coach Stan Van Gundy's job is in jeopardy.

"I don't understand why he wouldn't be," Smith told the Orlando Sentinel. "He's still the coach that he is. He still does a good job doing what he does."

ESPN's Tim Legler said Van Gundy was in trouble after the team lost Game 5 in Boston. Things were compounded when Dwight Howard questioned his lack of touches.

Smith added that he discussed the incident with Howard.

"It's probably the way he did it more than anything else," Smith said. "My thing is we're all men. When you have an issue with another man, go talk to that man."
