Magic point guard Jameer Nelson says that he's ready for the NBA Finals, but doesn't expect to play.
"In terms of playing time, that's up to Coach. I don't know. I'm honestly working out. I'm happy to be where I'm at right now," Nelson said Tuesday. "I'm definitely not expecting to play."
Nelson, who stepped up his workouts three weeks ago, took part in a practice with his teammates on Tuesday. Those same teammates expect to see him on the floor.
The All-Star, however, remained coy about his status.
"My rhythm, my timing's off a little bit. But for the most part, it's just basketball. You go out and play your hardest and give it your all. The thing is, I'm a competitor. I want to play. Right now, I'm doing everything my shoulder and my team allows me to do," Nelson said.
He hasn't played since Feb. 3 because of what was called a season-ending shoulder injury at the time.
