Dirk Nowitzki will miss his fifth straight game on Tuesday when the Mavericks face the Trail Blazers.

"No update on Dirk," coach Rick Carlisle said. "When Dirk's ready to play, we'll let everybody know. In the meantime, he's making gradual progress."

Nowitzki sprained his knee last week.

Dallas also announced on Tuesday that Caron Butler will miss the remainder of the season following knee surgery.
