Jerry Sloan is expected to step down as head coach of the Jazz, according to a Tweet from the Deseret News.

Sloan has been head coach of the Jazz since the 88-89 season, leading the team to Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998.

Assistant coach Phil Johnson is also expected to leave the team.

Following Wednesday's loss to Chicago, Sloan met with general manager Kevin O'Connor for 30 minutes after the game.

A few days earlier, Sloan told the media that he had signed an extension to remain as head coach of the franchise.
