James Jones has decided to opt out of is contract with the Miami Heat for the 11-12 season.

"I just decided to become a free agent," he said. "My goal is still to find the best situation for me, and that possibly could be Miami."

Jones was benched for the final nine games of the playoffs.

"If anything," Jones said, "making it to the Finals is an enticement to stay."

Jones still is due $1.7 million for next season and $1.8 million from the Heat in 2012-13 from the buyout of his previous deal. Any new Heat salary would be paid over and beyond that salary.
