The New York Knicks are electing to not find an immediate replacement for Tyson Chandler, who is out four to six weeks with a broken leg.

The Knicks have spoken to Jason Collins about joining the team, but they plan on re-signing Jeremy Tyler in December. Tyler is currently rehabbing.

Mike Woodson said during preseason Collins’ “name came up’’ over the summer.

The Knicks could create a roster spot by releasing Chris Smith, who already has his minimum contract of $491,000 fully guaranteed.
