The Dallas Mavericks have informed guard Ricky Ledo of his release, creating roster space for Amar’e Stoudemire, a league source told RealGM.

Ledo, the Maviercks’ acquisition with the 43rd overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft, has played sparingly in his first two pro seasons.

Ledo had two seasons remaining on his contract, both team options.

In 16 games over his NBA career, Ledo is averaging 1.3 points and 2.8 minutes per game.

Ledo, 22, has had strong performances in the Summer League and D-League, flashing the talent and skill at 6-foot-7 that has intrigued Dallas’ front office. He has averaged 16 points and nearly five rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the field for the Texas Legends this season.
