The New York Knicks are moving forward with their plan of having Steve Mills remain permanently as president.

The Knicks discussed a deal with David Griffin but they were unable to agree upon certain terms of the deal.

Mills is expected to have final say on personnel matters as he did when he replaced Glen Grunwald before the 13-14 season. The Knicks eventually hired Phil Jackson to serve above Mills.

Mills and James Dolan are expected to focus more on assistant general managers and player personnel directors seeking a promotion than an executive of Griffin's stature.

Griffin was responsible for firing one of Mills' best friends, David Blatt.
