The Boston Celtics have been granted a disabled-player exception by the NBA for the anticipated season-ending injury to Gordon Hayward.

The Celtics’ exception is worth $8.4 million and expires on March 10.

Boston can use it to sign a player to a one-year contract or trade for a player within that salary in the final season of his deal.

Boston has used Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in even bigger than anticipated roles with the loss of Hayward.
