Gonzaga athletic director Chris Standiford met with the Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark last week to discuss a potential move to the conference, sources told Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Gonzaga has reportedly been exploring its conference options. It has also had discussions with the Big East and the Pac-12, though the extent of those conversations is unknown.

Yormark has spoken about his desire to add a fourth time zone to the conference.

The Big 12 is also nearing a six-year contract extension with its television partners ESPN and Fox.

The potential of Gonzaga joining the conference was brought up in a "cursory" manner in contract discussions, though had no impact on the final television deal.
