The Los Angeles Lakers have strong interest in signing Chris Paul should he become a free agent this offseason, sources tell Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

The Phoenix Suns are evaluating trade opportunities involving Paul and could waive him before his contract becomes fully guaranteed.

If the Lakers were to sign Paul to a minimum contract, they could easily re-sign both Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura while maintaining their non-taxpayer midlevel exception.

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game last season.

Paul's family continues to live in Los Angeles.
