Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown was ejected in the second quarter of Tuesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs after receiving back-to-back technical fouls while disputing an out-of-bounds ruling. The Celtics held a 51-49 lead at the time of his dismissal.
The sequence began when Brown appeared to stumble out of bounds while being guarded by Stephon Castle, resulting in a turnover. Brown argued forcefully with official Tyler Ford that Castle had pushed him out of bounds.
Ford issued Brown a technical foul. Brown continued to argue, prompting official Suyash Mehta to immediately assess a second technical, triggering the automatic ejection. Teammate Sam Hauser stepped in to restrain Brown as coach Joe Mazzulla, assistant Sam Cassell and Celtics security worked to escort him off the floor.
Brown had logged eight points, seven assists and two rebounds in 13 minutes before his exit. The teams were tied at 58 at halftime.
Shortly after the ejection, Brown posted on X that "this the s--- I be talking about."
Brown has been openly critical of officiating this season and was fined $35,000 by the NBA in January for postgame comments directed at referees.
