The Denver Nuggets again ruled out most of their regular rotation Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs, but three-time MVP Nikola Jokic remains questionable. Jokic needs at least 15 minutes to secure eligibility for postseason awards.
Denver enters Sunday as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference at 53-28. A loss, combined with a Los Angeles Lakers win over the Utah Jazz, would drop the Nuggets to the No. 4 seed. The Lakers hold the tiebreaker over Denver following an overtime victory last month.
The seeding difference carries significant playoff implications. As the No. 3 seed, Denver would face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round. A slide to No. 4 would instead send them against the Houston Rockets.
The Nuggets will be without Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Cameron Johnson, Christian Braun and Tim Hardaway Jr. on Sunday. Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones remain sidelined as well with right hamstring strains.
The Spurs listed Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell as questionable. Wembanyama already secured his award eligibility by playing Friday. The Spurs are locked into the No. 2 seed but could influence Denver's bracket placement with a victory.
