The New York Knicks hope to re-sign Mitchell Robinson, who is entering unrestricted free agency. However, the Knicks ever-increasing payroll could force the team into making a touch decision on Robinson.

If New York waffles on re-signing Robinson, the Sacramento Kings could be poised to pounce. Kings GM Scott Perry was part of the Knicks front office when Robinson was drafted and has long been a fan of the athletic center.

Sacramento's financial situation isn't much better off than New York's. The Kings are dancing around the tax aprons themselves. But they could maneuver to have enough financial flexibility to make an offer to Robinson.

Some of the cap space teams could also pursue the Knicks center. The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls are both expected to add centers this offseason.
