The Philadelphia 76ers search for a new lead front office executive is moving forward with several candidates. One familiar face is Jameer Nelson, who is currently an assistant GM with the Sixers.

Nelson is under consideration for Philadelphia's top front office spot, which would be a jump from his current spot as third-in-charge. But Nelson reportedly had more responsibility than a typical person in his situation, in addition to being seen as a rising front office star. Even if Nelson doesn't receive the top job, it's expected that he'll be promoted within the Sixers front office.

The former 14-year point guard has deep ties to Philadelphia, despite never playing for the team during his NBA career. Nelson played his college basketball at Saint Joseph's after growing up in the Philadelphia area.

Other known candidates for the opening include Mike Gansey of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Nick U'Ren of the Phoenix Mercury, Matt Lloyd of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Trent Redden of the LA Clippers.
