Entry-level ticket prices for NBA Finals games at Madison Square Garden have surged dramatically following the New York Knicks' 105-95 Game 1 road victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Low-end seats for Monday's Game 3 now start at approximately $8,200, nearly double the $4,200 figure from three days prior and more than triple the market level from less than three weeks ago.
Game 4 on June 10, now a potential series-clinching scenario, has seen comparable movement. Tickets that opened at $3,900 Monday have climbed to roughly $8,500 across multiple resale platforms.
Game 6 on June 16, contingent on series length, currently starts at approximately $9,000, up from $5,300 at the start of this week.
TicketIQ founder and CEO Jesse Lawrence called the figures historically unique.
"There have been some high tickets for the NBA Finals before, and the event has been steadily going up, but this is totally unprecedented territory and is a whole other thing," said Lawrence. "It's also not surprising, though, given the intensity of the Knicks fan base and the disposable income that's in New York."
All get-in prices reflect upper-level sections. Lower-bowl seats are commanding well into five figures. Notably, Game 3 entry prices already exceed the $7,900 get-in figure for the FIFA World Cup final on July 19.
Pricing in San Antonio remains far more accessible. Game 2 resale tickets start below $800, while a potential Game 7 at Frost Bank Center opens around $3,200.
Industry observers expect Friday's Game 2 outcome to drive further market movement heading into next week's MSG contests.
"If the Knicks win and go up 2-0, you'll see the market go crazy, especially for Game 4," said Alex Warner, CEO of season-ticket management company Winventory. "It would either be a clinch possibility, or at worst, the Knicks go into that one up two games to one with an opportunity to really put the Spurs on the ropes, and that will certainly drive the market."
