Tyrese Haliburton: I Was Really, Really, Really All In On Sacramento

Feb 15, 2022 9:16 AM

Now Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton penned a piece for The Players' Tribue that outlined his thoughts on being traded from the Sacramento Kings. Haliburton didn't hesitate to share he never wanted to leave Sacramento.

Haliburton wrote, "I really, really, really was all in on Sacramento. And I wasn’t shy about it. I would tell people, straight up, “I want to be that next C-Webb for this city.” That was my whole mindset. I wanted to become one of those players who got drafted somewhere and built a legacy — on and off the court. I wanted to become someone the people of Sacramento knew was in their corner."

Haliburton wrote about being in disbelief when his agent first told him he might be getting traded. He talked about how the whole process took him "From “no way” to traded in 30 minutes. I’ve literally waited in line at Cold Stone for longer than that."

Despite being upset to leave Sacramento, Haliburton said he's excited to be in Indiana, which is closer to his hometown of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Haliburton also wrote that he's looking forward to winning with the Pacers and that he's "Coming to Indiana to leave my imprint, and to help this team do something special. I’m coming here to create a legacy that makes Pacers fans proud."

Myles Turner Expected To Return After All-Star Break

Feb 12, 2022 8:59 AM

Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged he has lots of new faces to incorporate after the trade deadline. He also hopes to work them in with big man Myles Turner soon after the All-Star break.

Speaking before Friday night's game, Carlisle said he expects Turner to return "soon after the break". Carlisle reiterated that there is no set date for Turner to play, but that it should come in the next couple of weeks.

Turner was somewhat surprisingly not a part of the Pacers trade deadline dealing. Indiana traded away Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert, but the market for Turner may have been depressed by him battling a stress reaction in his left foot. Now, Turner is reportedly excited to play with new acquisition Tyrese Haliburton on the Pacers.

Suns, Pacers Had Brief Dialogue On Deandre Ayton For Domantas Sabonis

Feb 11, 2022 12:23 PM

The Phoenix Suns and Indiana Pacers had a brief conversation around a trade of Deandre Ayton for Domantas Sabonis, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.

The talks didn't get far and may have been informal and exploratory without a formal offer from other team.

Sabonis is due $18.5 million next season and $19.4 million in 2023-24, while Ayton will be a restricted free agent almost certain to command a far higher salary this offseason.

The Pacers instead traded Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings for Tyrese Haliburton.

Myles Turner Not Told He's Staying With Pacers

Feb 10, 2022 9:13 AM

The Indiana Pacers have already made two big moves leading up to the trade deadline and they might not be done yet. Despite sending Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings, Indiana may still move Myles Turner in another trade.

As of Wednesday night, the Pacers reportedly hadn't told Turner that he's staying in Indiana. The team is continuing to look at trades involving the talented big man.

Turner is currently recovering from a stress reaction in his left foot. That may have depressed his trade market somewhat.

There are also reports that Turner is excited about the Pacers new direction. Turner is enthused about playing with Tyrese Haliburton.

Pacers Trade Domantas Sabonis To Kings For Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield

Feb 9, 2022 2:37 PM

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to trade Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings for a package centered on Tyrese Haliburton.

The Pacers are including Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday and a 2027 second-round pick in exchange for Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson.

The Sacramento backcourt is now less crowded in De'Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell.

Indiana was poised to split up their big man pairing of Sabonis and Myles Turner this season. Sabonis was widely considered to have significant more trade value than Turner.

The Pacers previously traded Caris LeVert and now have a revamped backcourt of Haliburton, Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Duarte.

"The league was stunned at this trade," said Adrian Wojnarowski on NBA Today. Wojnarowski added that other teams didn't realize Halburton was available.

"I'm told he was stunned today," said Wojnarowski of Haliburton.

Haliburton is represented by Aaron Mintz of CAA, who also represents former Indiana All-Star Paul George.

Sabonis is represented by Jason Ranne and Greg Lawrence of Wasserman. Ranne also represents former Sacramento guard Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Suns Interested In Domantas Sabonis, Possibly During Offseason

Feb 8, 2022 10:16 AM

The Phoenix Suns have recently been mentioned by "a handful of personnel around the league" as a team with interest in acquiring Domantas Sabonis.

The Suns have the best record in the NBA and a major move this week involving Sabonis is unlikely considering how it would potentially disrupt their chemistry.

The Suns and Pacers, however, could revisit the concept in the offseason as a potential sign-and-trade involving Deandre Ayton. The Suns were unable to agree to terms on an extension with Ayton in the offseason.

Sabonis is signed through 23-24 on a salary short of $20 million per year.

Pacers, Hawks Interested In CJ McCollum

Feb 8, 2022 10:12 AM

The Indiana Pacers have interest in trading for CJ McCollum, sources tell Brian Windhorst of ESPN. McCollum appears to be made available by the Portland Trail Blazers as they reset their roster around Damian Lillard.

The New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans have also been linked with McCollum.

McCollum is signed through the 23-24 season.

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report also indicated that the Atlanta Hawks have had recent discussions with the Blazers in addition to the Knicks. The Hawks could structure a deal involving Danilo Gallinari's $20.5 million deal that only has $5 million in guaranteed money next season along with Delon Wright's expiring deal.
