Corey Maggette is scheduled for an MRI exam today on his sprained joint near the left collarbone, the result of a blow to his left shoulder near the end of Friday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Maggette, also suffering from a sore left foot, sat out Saturday's 96-85 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Listed as sidelined indefinitely, Maggette is not expected to be out for a long period of time, Coach Mike Dunleavy said, unless today's exam "shows something is cracked." Dunleavy added: "That's not something that anybody is expecting."
May 2005 San Diego Clippers Wiretap
With an impressive 96-85 victory over the Golden State Warriors, the Clippers complete their first season sweep of their state rival.
Elton Brand scored 27 points for L.A., while Jason Richardson scored a game-high 29 points.
The Warriors' loss was their 14th in 15 games.
Clippers Forward Chris Wilcox has been activated from the injured list after missing 13 games due to a lower right leg stress reaction caused by repetitive pounding and overuse.
The Clippers are 6-7 without Wilcox, however have won 2 games straight.
The Clippers activated point guard Marko Jaric from the injured list.
Sidelined since Jan. 8 with a stress fracture in his right foot, Jaric has missed the last nine games. Los Angeles went 2-7 in Jaric's absence and is in the midst of a five-game losing streak heading into Monday's contest against Dallas.
Cuttino Mobley made his debut with the Sacramento Kings a good one, scoring 13 points and blocking 4 shots in a 99-95 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.
"I wasn't nervous, basketball is basketball, you just come out there and try to do something," said Mobley, who missed several open shots in the first half when he was 2-of-7.
The Los Angeles Clippers signed veteran point guard Darrick Martin to a 10-day contract today, Clippers Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor announced.
It will be Martin's second stint with the Clippers, where he played from 1996-98. He averaged 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds in 201 games with the franchise.
Martin also helped lead the Clippers to their last playoff appearance in 1997. He averaged 11.0 points and 4.3 assists in three playoff contests against Utah.
The Clippers' 28 turnovers made the game interesting, as Los Angeles defeated the Sixers by the score of 89-83 on Sunday.
Allen Iverson had 35 points for Philadelphia.
"We tried to contain him. We weren't really giving him anything," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We had guys running at him and going to try to block it, but he had some nice finishes at the rim. If you can say that you did a good job on a guy who got 35, then I thought we did a pretty good job on him."
