"After consulting with an ankle specialist in Los Angeles on Monday,(Ray)Allen still is mulling his options, which include undergoing surgery ? a scenario that generally includes four to six weeks of recovery ? or opting for an arthroscopic procedure that normally requires 2-3 weeks of rehabilitation.
Sonics guard Ray Allen met with an orthopedist in Los Angeles yesterday to discuss options for his injured right ankle. Although results weren't conclusive, general manager Rick Sund said the ankle could require surgery.
"It's a situation where he met with the doctors, and now he's going to talk to some of his advisers," Sund said. "Surgery is an option. If he elects to go the surgery route, it would be Friday or Saturday."
Seattle SuperSonics coach Nate McMillan revealed on Saturday that Ronald "Flip" Murray will replace Ray Allen in the starting lineup when the Sonics open the season against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday in Japan.
With Murray at shooting guard and Calvin Booth beating out Jerome James at center, it means that 40 percent of the Sonics' starting lineup has very little experience.

The Seattle Supersonics might have a major problem on their hands.
On Thursday, it was revealed during an MRI exam that Ray Allen has a loose item in his right ankle.
Allen will visit a specialist today in Seattle to find out what the loose item is.
"Sonics general manager Rick Sund said late Thursday that team officials didn't have any additional information. He didn't know if the loose particle was a bone chip, a torn ligament or some other loose material."
