The Nuggets were facing potentially losing Reed after his most recent 10-Day deal expired. With players returning from the health and safety protocols, and a handful of hopeful injury returns, Denver would eventually be unable to keep Reed long-term without a standard or Two-Way deal.

In 12 games with the Nuggets, Reed has averaged 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per contest. Denver head coach Michael Malone has praised Reed's confidence and preparedness during his time with the team.

Petr Cornelie will be waived from his Two-Way deal to open the spot for Reed. Cornelie played 38 minutes over 13 games while with the Nuggets this season.
