Suns Have Tried To Trade For Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker, Terry Rozier

Aug 31, 2018 3:59 PM

The Phoenix Suns have been active in attempting to trade for an established point guard.

According to John Gambadoro, the Suns have made inquiries on Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier.

Walker and Rozier both project to be free agents in 2019. Rozier's future is likely tied to what Kyrie Irving decides to do in his own free agency with the Boston Celtics.

The Suns traded away Brandon Knight this week in a deal for Ryan Anderson.

The Houston Rockets have traded Ryan Anderson and De'Anthony Melton to the Phoenix Suns for Marquese Chriss and Brandon Knight.

Houston had been attempting to trade Anderson for more than a year. Anderson is owed $41 million over the final two years of his contract compared to two years and $30 million for Knight.

Knight missed last season due to a torn ACL.

Anderson could conceivably start at power forward for the Suns.

The New Orleans Pelicans had interest in acquiring a wing via trade in the offseason but found the cost was too high.

Knicks Plan On Using Stretch Provision On Joakim Noah In September

Aug 8, 2018 6:24 PM

The New York Knicks are unlikely to bring Joakim Noah back into the organization under David Fizdale. The Knicks plan to part ways with Noah unless they can find a trade involving his two years and $37.8 million remaining on his dea.

The Knicks will use the NBA's waive-and-stretch provision to release Noah after Sept. 1.

After the hiring of Fizdale in June, Knicks management didn't rule out the possibility of Noah rejoining the organization for the 2018-19 season.

Scott Perry has been attempting to move Noah but hasn't come close to finding a deal.

Noah and the Knicks separated in February following a heated argument between Noah and ex-coach Jeff Hornacek.

Phil Jackson signed Noah to a four-year, $72 million deal in 2016.

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded forward Sam Dekker, the draft rights to Renaldas Seibutis and cash considerations to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for the draft rights to Vladimir Veremeenko.

As a result of this transaction, the Clippers will create a trade exception.

“We want to thank Sam for his contributions to our team competitiveness and culture this past season,” Lawrence Frank said. “Sam is a talented and hard-working athlete who represented this organization well as a player and a person. We wish him the best of luck with his opportunity in Cleveland.”

Dekker, 24, appeared in 73 games for the Clippers last season, averaging 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 49.4 percent from the field in 12.1 minutes.

Luol Deng Wants To Play, Seeks Clarity From Lakers

Aug 3, 2018 10:42 AM

Luol Deng played in only one game last season with the Los Angeles Lakers as they prioritized developing their younger players.

Deng's fit moving forward remains unclear as they have been unable to trade him and didn't need to use the stretch provision on him this offseason.

“I don’t know (where I fit in at the Lakers) I went with what they wanted,” said Deng.

“There has been a lot of talk. Me not playing was not my call. This is an organisational decision. People can say whatever they want to say I respected what they were telling me. Throughout the year I tried to play and every time they said they wanted to play the young guys, so that’s their direction.”

Deng has two more seasons remaining on his contract.

“I don’t know what’s going on now, hopefully soon I will know, I would like to know the answers.

“I know the level I can play at and the decision is something they came up with, whatever the criticism or the plan is, none of it was my decision, people need to understand that. They can say whatever they want, I know I can play the game, they see me at practice every day. If it was a game thing then come out and say it, but the honest truth, it’s the decision they made.

“I want to play, I want to be a part of something. But I’m not going to be a part of a place where you don’t believe in me. I’m not trying to knock down anybody, but I play for people who believe in me.

"I’ve taken every opportunity since day one and proven myself, I’m not going to sit here and give you the right answer, I’m going to be honest about it, for me, if the respect and appreciation is not there then I’d rather be elsewhere.”

Hassan Whiteside Had 'Good Meeting' With Pat Riley, Erik Spoelstra

Aug 2, 2018 10:01 PM

Hassan Whiteside revealed to reporters that he met with Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra last month.

"We had a great talk," Whiteside told reporters on a conference call to discuss Saturday's NBA game in Africa, in which he plans to play. "I just think it's trust on both sides. I think that's the biggest thing ... It was about a four-hour meeting. It was a lot about life. It was two hours basketball, two hours life. It was a good meeting."

Whiteside has two seasons remaining on his four-year, $98.4 million deal.

Last week, Riley insisted that the Heat weren't widely shopping Whiteside in trades this summer but said the center "has a lot of work to do."
