Heat Sign Da'Sean Butler

The Miami Heat announced today that they have signed second-round draft selection Da'Sean Butler. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Butler, a 6'7", 230-pound forward, played all four seasons at West Virginia University appearing in 146 games (110 starts) and averaged 14.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.06 steals while shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three-point range and 73.3 percent from the foul line.

Mavericks Re-Sign Tim Thomas

The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have re-signed free agent forward Tim Thomas. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Thomas (6-10, 230), a 13-year veteran, was the seventh overall selection in the 1997 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and has played with seven teams during his career (Philadelphia, Milwaukee, New York, Chicago, Phoenix, L.A. Clippers and Dallas), including two stints with both New York and Chicago. In 824 career games, he holds averages of 11.5 points and 4.1 rebounds, while shooting .437 from the field, .369 from behind-the-arc and .758 from the foul line.

Ariza To Hornets Headlines Four-Team Trade

The Hornets, Nets, Pacers and Rockets completed a four-team trade, Nets General Manager Billy King announced Wednesday.

As part of the transaction, the Rockets acquire Nets guard Courtney Lee and send Trevor Ariza to New Orleans, with Indiana acquiring Darren Collison and James Posey from the Hornets, and New Jersey adding Troy Murphy.

"We're excited to add Darren to the strong core of young players already on our roster," said Larry Bird, Pacers President of Basketball Operations.  "He's a dynamic young point guard and we believe that he will be a key piece of our goal of building a team that the fans in Indiana deserve."
