In a simple message posted on Instagram, Nemanja Bjelica announced his retirement from playing basketball.

"20 years...Thank you basketball" was Bjelica's message on Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-10 forward played for seven seasons in the NBA. Bjelica started his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2015, before moving to the Sacramento Kings in 2018. At the 2021 trade deadline, Bjelica was dealt to the Miami Heat. He then signed with the Golden State Warriors, and helped the team win the 2022 NBA Finals.

Following that NBA title, Bjelica returned to Fenerbahce in Turkey. He had previously played for the Turkish club before coming to the NBA.

Bjelica also played professionally for clubs in his native Serbia and in Spain during his 20-year professional career. The 35-year-old had also suited up for the Serbian national team for several EuroBasket and World Cup competitions, as well as Olympic qualifiers.

Burundi's Dynamo Basketball Club Forfeits BAL Season Over Logo Dispute

Mar 12, 2024 9:29 AM

Burundi's Dynamo Basketball Club has forfeited their participation in the Basketball Africa League season. Dynamo forfeited back-to-back games, and that triggers an immediate forfeiture of the remainder of the season, under BAL rules.

BAL president Amadou Gallo Fall said: "Dynamo Basketball Club (Burundi) has further refused to comply with the Basketball Africa League's rules and requirements governing jerseys and uniforms, thereby forfeiting today's game against Petro de Luanda (Angola) and its participation in the 2024 BAL season.

"Under FIBA rules, two forfeitures in the same tournament trigger the club's automatic withdrawal. This is a very unfortunate situation for the players and fans, and we share the frustrations of everyone involved. All remaining Kalahari Conference games will be played as scheduled, and we look forward to engaging fans in Pretoria through expanded fan and community events."

Dynamo had covered up a "Visit Rwanda" logo on their jerseys. Burundi and Rwanda are in the midst of a political conflict between the two nations.

The BAL has replaced Dynamo in the exhibition tournament with the NBA Academy Africa team. The Academy team features Khaman Maluach, who recently committed to Duke, as well as NBA prospect Ulrich Chomche.
