Barron Turns Down Offer From Maccabi

Earl Barron recently turned down an offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to a source.

Barron is confident he'll get an offer from an NBA team in the near future.

New York showed interest in re-signing Barron, but they signed young Russian center Timofey Mozgov with a three-year, $9 million deal instead.

Wittman Signs With Libertas Forli

Ryan Wittman has signed a one-year contract with Libertas Forli in Italy for the upcoming 2010-11 season, his agency Mark Termini Associates confirmed to RealGM on Wednesday.

Wittman was the 2009-10 Ivy League Player of the Year during his senior season with Cornell.  Wittman averaged 17.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game as a senior and helped lead Cornell into the Sweet 16.

Wittman also played for the Celtics and Knicks during the 2010 NBA Summer League.

Heat To Host Exhibition Against CSKA Moscow

The Heat will host an exhibition game on Oct. 12 against Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow at AmericanAirlines Arena.

The game is one of eight preseason contests the team announced Thursday.

It is the first time the Heat have hosted an international team in an exhibition game at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Schortsanitis Signs With Maccabi Tel Aviv

Sofoklis Schortsanitis has signed a two-year deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Schortsanitis, who had been playing in Greece, was a member of the Clippers' Summer League team in Las Vegas.

"As soon as I made the decision not to keep playing in Greece, I started looking for a big club, one that was well-run and had a great reputation, where I could make a contribution ? I found all that with Maccabi Tel Aviv," the center said in a statement.

"I'm very excited to come to Tel Aviv and to Nokia Arena. I know the club, its fans and its impressive accomplishments very well, and I'm going to do everything I can to continue to glorify Maccabi Tel Aviv."

Kurz, who spent his rookie season of pro basketball in 2008-09 with the NBA?s Golden State Warriors, will play in 2010-11 with CB Granada, an ACB (high level) team in Spain.

Weaver Won't Sign With Maccabi Tel Aviv

Despite a reported agreement between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Kyle Weaver, the guard will not sign with the Israeli team.

Weaver wants to try and earn a spot on an NBA team in training camp and Maccabi has decided not to wait for him.

As many as 10 teams are believed to be interested in adding Weaver to their camp roster.

Former Thunder guard Kyle Weaver has agreed to terms with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Weaver was waived by Oklahoma City on Friday.

He was originally drafted by the Bobcats in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft.

Maccabi In Talks With Sofoklis Schortsanitis

The Israeli media is reporting that Sofoklis Schortsanitis is in advanced talks on a multi-year agreement with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The 25-year-old center has played the past five seasons with Olympiakos.

Schortsanitis played for the Clippers at the Las Vegas Summer League.
