The New York Post reports that Knicks center Luc Longley is likely to retire soon. Longley's agent, Jeff Austin, has forwarded medical records on Longley's ankle to the Knicks' doctors to review.

Austin told the Post that there did not seem to be a sense of urgency from the Knicks to get the retirement process finished. The Knicks likely understand the difficulty in getting a Disabled Player Exception, and likely also realize that they would have trouble finding a replacement in the event the DPE were granted.

The Post reports that the Knicks offered Longley and Travis Knight to the Sonics for Vin Baker prior to the trade deadline in February. The Sonics nixed the trade, feeling they were still in the playoff race.
