According to the LA Times Brian Shaw remained a free agent Friday, the process of waiving and then re-signing him perhaps not as seamless as the Lakers might have hoped.

Though General Manager Mitch Kupchak spoke to Shaw on Friday and met at his El Segundo office with Jerome Stanley, Shaw's agent, the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks also were believed to have called, complicating the process.

The Orange County Register states that Shaw would like to get the Lakers to ante up another year on their contract offer, but Kupchak said there will be no negotiating.

The LA Daily News says that Shaw and agent Jerome Stanley were opposed to this payroll shell game in the first place and are holding out for a better deal. "Brian is weighing offers, and the offers are from contenders," Stanley said. "I'm not sure it's going to happen. I don't know. They waived him."

While Shaw's agent angles for a more lucrative deal, Jackson said he hopes to see Shaw back here "for Brian's sake. I mean, it's a nice match. But we have other options too, you know. There are players out there." He didn't name names, but it's no secret that former Laker Ron Harper desperately wants to play one more season for Jackson.
