Jerry Brewer of the Orlando Sentinel reports: Tracy McGrady's right shin is not broken, but that doesn't mean he will play tonight when the Orlando Magic take on the Phoenix Suns.

McGrady, the Magic's all-star guard and leading scorer, bruised his shin and left during the third quarter of Monday night's loss to Utah.

At first, it looked as if McGrady might walk off the injury; he remained in the game and made three shots after the injury. But the more he moved around on defense, the worse the shin got, and he ultimately left the game. He went to the locker room at the Delta Center and later re-entered the game but left shortly thereafter.

Because there was no X-ray equipment available at the arena, the Magic had to wait until Tuesday to get a full evaluation of the shin.

The Magic, who did not practice Tuesday, have McGrady listed as day to day. McGrady said the injury "hurts like heck" after Monday's game. Whether he plays tonight most likely depends on his pain threshold because the bruise is deep enough that treatment is not going to cure him quickly.
