The Washington Post reports that The Wizards have held trade talks with several teams regarding center Jahidi White and several other players, sources with knowledge of the situation said. Washington has talked to the Chicago Bulls about acquiring disgruntled forward Charles Oakley but those talks have been fruitless, one source said.

The Bulls do not want to send Oakley to Washington, in part because of General Manager Jerry Krause's strained relationship with Michael Jordan, the Wizards' former president of basketball operations who still is consulted in personnel decisions. Oakley is in the last year of a contract that pays him $7.3 million this season, which would mean the Wizards would have to trade several players to make a deal, which is unlikely, the source said.

Though the Wizards aren't in a hurry to transform their young roster, they are willing to move nearly every player, a league source said. Washington ideally would like to get a big man and, or, a rangy small forward.

The Phoenix Suns have been one of the most aggressive teams after White, the source said, but they don't seem to have anything overly attractive to offer. The Seattle SuperSonics also expressed interest. White is unlikely to be moved any time soon and if he is moved, he likely would be part of a package, the source said.

Washington likely would wait to see whether injured center Brendan Haywood (torn left thumb ligaments) responds positively once he is cleared to play before engaging in serious trade talks regarding White, a source said.
