Magic notes: Orlando posted its second-largest home win in team history Monday night, trouncing the Memphis Grizzlies 113-71. The 42-point margin was exceeded only by a 46-point win in 1995 against Philadelphia. The Magic could do no wrong in the game, shooting 56.4 percent while holding the Grizzlies to 33.8 percent. Orlando also made 11 of its 19 3-pointers. . . . The Magic will once again be without standout forward Grant Hill tonight because of lingering pain in his left ankle. Hill will miss his fifth game of the season and fourth in a row. He had the ankle operated on twice last season and missed 78 games. He is expected to return Friday or Saturday against Atlanta. . . . Mike Miller, who had 26 points in Monday's win, has been spectacular offensively the past six games. In those games, he is averaging 20.6 points a game. He is shooting a whopping 56 percent from the floor and has hit 20 of his 37 3-pointers (54 percent). . . . Pat Garrity made 4 of his 5 3-point shots in Monday's win. He has made 14 of his past 27 shots (51.8 percent) from beyond the arc.
Bulls notes: Chicago is off to a dreadful start for a third season in a row and the fallout apparently is turning ugly. The Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday that head coach Tim Floyd told players during a meeting that he would ask management to relieve him of his duties. Floyd has endured the worst coaching start in NBA history. His three Chicago teams are 47-182. . . . The Bulls played in Houston Tuesday, making them the third consecutive team that will play the Magic as the second leg of a back-to-back. Washington and Memphis were the others. . . . Chicago center Brad Miller is having his finest season as a pro, averaging 15.4 points and 8.7 rebounds a game. But on Tuesday, he was hit with a $7,500 fine for kicking a courtside seat into the stands. The incident occurred on Dec. 1 in the Bulls' 93-76 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. . . . Chicago rookie forward Tyson Chandler has missed the past two games with an ankle sprain. Fellow rookie Eddy Curry has appeared in just 12 games and is 14th among rookies in scoring (4.8 ppg.). . . . Chicago has lost nine of its past 10 games against the Magic.
Next for the Magic: Friday, vs. Atlanta, 7:30 p.m. (Sunshine Network)
