Each year since 1994, when the Milwaukee Bucks made Glenn Robinson the No. 1 pick in the draft, debates have continued regarding the wisdom of that selection.

The Bucks took Robinson instead of Grant Hill, who, by any objective measure, developed into a better overall professional player than Robinson. On that, there can be little argument.

Yet circumstances of last week provided further evidence that should end the Robinson-Hill controversy once and for all. In retrospect, the Bucks have been better off with Robinson because Hill, not yet 30 years old, may never regain the six-time all-star form that led the Orlando Magic to invest $93 million in him.

Done for the season after undergoing surgery on his left ankle for the second time in a year, Hill's chronic condition has some wondering if he will ever play again. Either way, it has been a nightmare for the Magic, which paid dearly for damaged goods.
