After playing four quarters against the Toronto Raptors last night, Paul Pierce looked like he'd gone 12 rounds against Mike Tyson.

All he had was ice - and a 106-97 victory - to soothe his left wrist and right knee. He will have X-rays on the wrist today.

The Celtics co-captain was hurtin' for certain after his encounter with the Junkyard Dog, aka Toronto's Jerome Williams. But he counterpunched well with 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the C's climbed within three games of New Jersey in the Atlantic Division race.

``I told Paul to point to the spot on his body that doesn't hurt,'' said Celts coach Jim O'Brien.
