After 14 years, David Robinson knew the routine. Clean out the locker. Pack up 37 pairs of sneakers. Sign a few more autographs. Take another team photo. Meet with coach for the exit interview.

David Robinson had a lot to celebrate during his 14-year career, perhaps most of all Sunday night's NBA championship.

Whether it be at HemisFair Arena or the Alamodome, each time Robinson completed his spring cleaning, he wished his teammates a good vacation and said he would see them in a few months.

On Tuesday he told them goodbye.

A day before he officially floats into retirement, Robinson packed up his belongings for the final time at the Spurs' practice facility. Though the Spurs will see each other at tonight's parade on the River Walk, they used Tuesday's season-ending meeting ? "an emotional meeting," Robinson called it ? to reflect on both their championship run and their franchise center's career.

"This year was probably the most fun year I've had in my whole career," Robinson said. "It just seems like things got better and better as I got older. These last couple years have been pretty fun. I just told them that.

"I love those guys. They're always going to be a part of my life."
