Bulls general manager John Paxson spent most of Monday morning talking about how he would use the team's first-round draft pick, acknowledging that Jay Williams' serious injuries have affected the team's trade flexibility.

As of Monday night, Paxson appears to be serious. Talks have stalled on at least one offer.

A league source indicated that Toronto offered its fourth overall pick and forward Lamond Murray for the Bulls' pick at No. 7 and Donyell Marshall. The source emphasized that the Raptors drove the talks, which the Bulls entertained briefly.

Murray, who missed all of the 2002-03 season after tearing a ligament in his right foot, could have filled the need for a small forward who can score from the perimeter and defend. Murray has averaged 12.9 points in eight NBA seasons with two teams.

The No. 4 pick would have enabled the Bulls to draft Georgia Tech forward Chris Bosh or either of the top most highly rated point guards in the draft, Texas' T.J. Ford or Kansas' Kirk Hinrich.
