The New York Post has learned that Mike Fratello has been offered the head coaching position of the Memphis Grizzlies.  He is expected to accept, as early as Wednesday.

This will be the second consecutive coach that Jerry West has hired who is coming directly from color commentary.

His deal is expected to be for three or four years at an average of $4 million per. If it falls through at the last minute, interim coach Lionel Hollins will be promoted to full-time coach.

The Grizzlies play the Knicks tonight in the Garden and it's possible that Fratello could be on the Memphis bench. If Fratello takes the job, Hollins and the other assistants will remain on board through the remainder of the season.

Fratello was a longtime coach of both the Hawks and Cavaliers.
