The New Jersey Nets are not waiting on Shareef Abdur-Rahim to make a decision on where he will play next season and plan to meet with Memphis Grizzlies forward Stromile Swift.

"According to two sources, the Nets will meet with Swift today in Las Vegas, where the team is playing in a summer league. Even though the Nets' top target is Abdur-Rahim, they cannot afford to wait too long for his decision. Abdur-Rahim, who spent two days with the Nets in New Jersey last week, was in Sacramento yesterday and may still visit Miami or San Antonio."

The Nets would like to acquire a free agent forward via a sign and trade for their $5 million Traded Player Exception which expires July 29th.

This would allow them to sign a player like Heat guard Keyon Dooling with part of their Mid-Level Exception, which will be worth about $5 million.
