The Knicks have amateur workouts scheduled for Monday at their practice facility in Westchester, N.Y., which, according to the Newark Star-Ledger, adds a whole new twist to the whole Larry Brown debacle.  Since no meeting has taken place with Brown, he is expected to show up to work despite the rumors floating around that he is no longer wanted by the Knicks.

Brown, who is recovering from bladder surgery, could avoid that scene by saying he is still recuperating and stay away. Then again, in order to collect the $40 million owed to him on his contract, Brown would have to be fired by the Knicks, so by showing up ready to work he could force their hand.

So they could be headed for an expensive game of chicken.

Brown's agent, Joe Glass, said there were no new developments yesterday, and the Knicks continued their silence on the matter. On Tuesday, Glass said his client was ready to return to work whenever required.

"Larry is ready to go back and coach the Knicks, whenever the coaching situation comes about," he said, "whenever that might be."
