The Celtics aren't expecting Kevin Garnett to return from a strained right knee muscle by Friday's initial estimate.

Boston initially believed that Garnett would miss two to three weeks of action, with this Friday's game against Memphis marking three weeks.

"I'm going to still say no earlier than next Sunday [at Milwaukee]," coach Doc Rivers said. "But [it could be later]."

Garnett could return to practice this week, but the team's trainer hasn't officially updated his status.

"Nothing to talk about," Garnett said prior to Sunday's loss to the Magic. "I'm hurting."
