James McAdoo, the No. 1 power forward in the country and No. 2 player overall according to Scout.com, made a verbal commitment to North Carolina over the weekend.

The 6-8, 210 junior from Norfolk, Va. made his commitment after speaking with Roy Williams on Saturday.

McAdoo was also considering Duke and Virginia.

"I had no plans of committing, but once I went down there to the alumni game on Friday ... and then we ended up on Saturday and was able to talk with Coach Williams and the overall experience of the weekend, just things he was telling me and he was able to show me how I would fit into the program in two years," McAdoo said. "I felt like there was no need to wait."

"To me, James McAdoo is a competitive, versatile four man who has a huge motor, is driven to win," Scout.com national recruiting director Dave Telep said. "And he is a very, very skilled player."
