Tony Parker announced on Wednesday that he will be playing for his own French team ASVEL during the lockout.
“Going to play in France !!!" wrote Parker. "Let’s go ASVEL !!!! De retour en France pour jouer avec l’ASVEL !!!!”
Parker will be playing for only $1,995 per month and will be based in Villeurbanne, near Lyon in southeast France.
“I’ll be playing nearly for free … If I play the entire season, we’ll go for the title,” Parker told L’Equipe.
Parker's NBA contract pays him a gross salary of approximately $1 million per month.
