Oakland's Benson Earns Summit League Player Of The Week Honors

Oakland's Keith Benson has been named Summit League Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

Benson, a senior from Farmington Hills, Mich., led the Golden Grizzlies to a league record 17 consecutive conference wins and set a new all-time record in blocked shots.

He began the week with a season-high tying 28 points, 11 rebounds and blocked three shots at South Dakota State on Thursday, Jan. 20, to become The Summit League's all-time shot blocker with 320, surpassing Central Connecticut State and NBA player Keith Closs' 317 (1994-96).

South Dakota State Making Waves Nationally

After struggling in the first couple of years in the Summit League, South Dakota State is starting to make waves both in the league and nationally.

SDSU (12-7) ranks 128th of the 345 NCAA Division I men's basketball programs, according to the College Power Index.

The Jack Rabbits also rank 14th overall in scoring with an average of 81.2 points per game.

North Dakota State's Felt Named Summit League Player Of The Week

North Dakota State guard Mike Felt was named the Summit League’s men‘s basketball Player of the Week.

Felt tied single game school records for free throw percentage and three-point field goals made this past week.

He averaged 21.5 points and hit 11 of 17 three-pointers.
