The New York Times reports that Allan Houston is on the verge of becoming the highest-paid player in Knick history.
Depending on the new salary cap, to be set on July 17, Houston could receive from $99 million to $103 million over six years. Houston, 30, represented the Knicks on the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the second straight season, averaging 18.7 points last season while shooting 44.9 percent from the field.
Because Houston will be 37 in April 2008, he will be restricted by a rule that makes it difficult for players to receive the maximum seven-year deal after their 36th birthday.
