The Detroit Free Press reports Centers Zeljko Rebraca and Ratko Varda have been trying to get on flights from Europe, but John Hammond, the Pistons' vice president of player personnel, would be happy if the two arrived by Oct. 1. That's the team's scheduled media day and the day before the start of full-scale practices at training camp.

Hammond said there was a slim chance the two wouldn't arrive in time for training camp, but that would stem from problems with their work visas.

"I mean, these guys are professional athletes now, and we're not the only team with players overseas right now," Hammond said.

"There are players trying to get back from the European championships. I think Peja Stojakovic, Toni Kukoc, Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Bradley played over there."
