RECORDS: Magic 3-2, Clippers 3-2.
BROADCAST: TV -- Magic Television Network (WRBW-Ch. 65). RADIO -- 580 AM (WDBO) in Orlando and in Spanish on 1440 AM (WPRD).
CLIPPERS UPDATE: This is shaping up as a nice young team. They were thrilled to land Elton Brand from Chicago as part of a pre-draft trade. The Clips still have Corey Maggette and Derek Strong, obtained from the Magic two years ago in a draft-day trade. For the first time in years, they are thinking about the playoffs again, but it won't be easy in the tough Western Conference.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR: A good matchup will be Grant Hill against Lamar Odom at small forward. Brand will be a load for Horace Grant to handle. Both are former power forwards for the Chicago Bulls, but in different eras. Don't expect Darrell Armstrong to play many minutes. The Magic want to make sure he is fresh for the regular season.
ETC: Trying to make sure there are some people at the Ice Palace tonight, particularly after a Tampa Bay Bucs home game, the Magic offered free tickets in Tampa to season-ticket holders. About 1,000 people accepted. . . . Mike Miller (broken bone in his right foot) and Tracy McGrady (sore lower back) won't play tonight. McGrady is expected back for Tuesday night's game in Dallas. . . . This game was supposed to be played in Mexico City but was moved after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
