When the Spurs opened training camp Oct. 2 with 10 new players on their roster and a new offense to install, coaches and players alike preached patience.
Progress would come, but it might take time.
Steve Smith and Bruce Bowen needed to get comfortable playing alongside Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Antonio Daniels needed to settle into his new role. Everyone needed to learn the meaning of defensive three seconds.
Now halfway through their preseason schedule, the Spurs have an unblemished record and plenty of optimism. It may be a little early to schedule a River Walk parade for June, but they have at least started to answer a few questions.
