TRENTON, N.J. -- In nine NBA seasons, John Crotty never has averaged more than 5.9 points or 2.5 assists.
  He has played more than 69 games just twice, and during one five-year stretch, he played for five different teams.
  This preseason, Crotty seems to be emerging as the Jazz's No. 1 backup to 39-year-old John Stockton. If that bothers Jazz fans, it does not concern coach Jerry Sloan.
