Cleveland Cavaliers center Michael Doleac said it felt just like practice playing against his former teammates with Orlando on Saturday night.
After three seasons in Orlando, Doleac was traded by the Magic this summer on draft night for the rights to Brendan Haywood, who later was traded to Washington. Although Doleac went from a contender to a rebuilding team, it should be a great opportunity for him from a contract standpoint.
Doleac will be a free agent this summer, and he is expected to play considerably more than he did in Orlando. He averaged 24.7 minutes in the Cavs' first three games. He averaged only 18.2 minutes last season in Orlando.
"It could help me here, but you only keep the minutes if you play well," he said. "Initially, it hurt to get traded, leaving behind a lot of friends, but that's part of the game. You have to make the most of it."
Bo on the go?
As his playing time with the Magic shrinks this season, forward Bo Outlaw will continue to be mentioned by teams talking trade with the Magic. The latest to inquire about his availability is Cleveland. "I'd love to have Bo on my team," Cavs Coach John Lucas said. "He could teach our young guys how to play the game, but they want a lot back. They always do for guys like that."
